Description

These people was close to me as they get ready for the contests comeing up. I guess they was father and son. The wife was there too as I got a shot of her too. this is not at the medieval in Texas but in Louisiana. I do have some video on youtube in case you wish to see them I am jocko500 there also so type that into search and you will find them. check out this video http://www.tubewatcher.tv/16425#comments sharky photos made into video by MagikUnicorn real good video yes i know of the camera movement. the lighting was very bad in the building. but i like the movement here as it gives a dream like state of something passing from father to son as they work together to get ready for the contests. Bet he reminding his son what to do in the dance

my father was sadly never my friend. but i must give him justice, when recapitulating and comparing with what is going on in these times now,i must say he fed me i had a roof over my head and some clothing as well. so he was better than a lot in todays time even if he was a lost soul,in his alcohol and violence. i wonder what happened to him in his youth to become like he was. i could imagine his mother. well i met the woman only once and i was very small maybe 5-6 years and she slapped me for no reason at all.maybe i am not objective in my feelings but there was something wrong with her. but she has to clear that with the big chief when the time comes.

Yes, the rituals must be given to the next generation. Very good document of that special moment. Nice warm colors, I might add.

I love the warmth in this shot and the slight blur adds to the whole human vibe of this; humans are seldom still, you know...there's always movement, always something dynamic, always something that isn't really what you expect it to be, no matter what it is. I really like the sensitivity of this shot and the human dignity that always seems to reveal itself most profoundly during some kind of ritual. I think it's because rituals have no real purpose, no real meaning; they're pure human inventions that gain meaning by the fact that someone thinks to do them. I like rituals for that reason, whether they're a ritual dance or any other act that has no meaning except what the participants say, and this is a brilliant capture of that! This is an amazing piece of photographic work.

I think it's appropriate that this image is slightly blurred, the passage of time is never static, and neither are we.

An excellent shot. My guess is very little is said at this point in the dancing. My experience has been that The People say very little. They are raised knowing to observe and waste very little, including words. I really admire the work done on these dance outfits. So much detail and handwork.
