Description

I'm not all sure what the settings should be when trying to make waterfalls or rivers look silky like. Everything depends on the time of the day, the weather (sunny or cloudy) and the strength of the river or falls. I like early mornings best where not much light from the sun yet. I had reduced my ISO settings to 100 and took a lot of pictures with different shutter speed and f-stops.....hopefully one will be good. I haven't tried using a polarized filter yet but it should help. Sometimes its just best to leave the river/falls looking like how it really looks like. Aloha and thank you for viewing

I have read a slow shutter speed or a fast one can produce the silky effect.looks like you accomplished your goal.beautiful river shot

This is beautiful as it is, a polarizer would have toned down the brightness just a bit!!

Naturally silky and great. A longer exposure time gives the smooth effect, but you have to be careful not to overexpose the image.

@jayfar...Yes, polarize would tone done the brightness. It would be good to tone down the brightness on a very sunny day and you again can readjust your shutter speed to obtain the silky effect. @FractalFactor...You are right, reason I take many pictures of one spot with different settings. To many times I've come back with over exposed pictures making the water bloom in white. Even the brown muddy waterfalls will sometimes turn white in an over exposed shot. Thanks for your input....Aloha

I think the right filter is a neutral density filter to reduce light and able to work with slower tempos to enhance the movement of water! very beautiful Work !
