ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA 2011:
One of the alien transports crashed outside Prague and a mixed force of American, British and German paratroopers were order in, in what became the biggest airborne operation in history, known as Operation Thunderbolt.
Although caught by surprise the crew of transport fought back with everything they had, the battle lasted for close to eight hours and saw the practical annihilation of the world's most elite paratroopers, but the transport was captured and turned over to the scientists.
