Description

Hartwell Tavern was built 1732-1733. When Ephraim and Elizabeth Hartwell got married, Ephraim's father Samuel gave them a new house surrounded by 30 acres of land. The couple quickly began raising a family. In 1756, when the Hartwells had 9 children living in the house, Ephraim applied for and received a license to open part of their home as an inn. He and his family continued to do so until the 1780's. The house continued to be a residence until it was purchased in 1967 by the National Park Service and info from their web site. I have hiked in Concord, Massachusetts many times and found this in August 2009. Zoom helps in the kitchen and pub areas. Upper left is a spinning wheel in the living room. Upper right is the liquor storage room. Lower left is the original pub. Lower right the kitchen Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Wonderful shots; cooking in those days would have been much more of a challenge than it is now. God bless modern kitchens!

There is a tavern in the town, in the town...... Sterling indoor shots in this collage of the quaint inn, still in remarkably good condition. And, yes, this has pre-Revolutionary War era written all over it, and even during and after, Dana.
