Description

the nice part of the Washougal River Greenway project is that it provides a wonderful habitat for all sorts of birds and animals. in this shot, we see a beautiful heron falpping his/her wings. the most amazing part of this scene is that he/she started this only after I stopped my bike and got my camera out and started taking pictures. After about five shots, I put my cmaera away and the heron stopped the wing flapping. This is dedicated to Denise as she has so much fun trying to capture a heron on her camera.... I'll be posting a cropped shot in the nest upload Thanks to all who welcomed me back. I really appreciate it. My uploads will still be sporatic but for the next couple of weeks, I will be very busy, if not going insane due to work and other commitments Mike

The one in the pond near where I work doesn't flap as he/she's too busy getting lunch at their favorite smorgasbord. Interesting shot, Mike.

Hmmm, I just noticed there seem to be a couple of other birds in this picture as well - a mostly white one in the back right on the post back there, and a black one sitting on a post to the left of the heron. The one on the right looks like it may be a kingfisher. Very cool :)

Marvelous capture Mike. If this was the spring time I would say the flapping was a deliberate attempt to draw attention to itself so you dont notice the nest full of babies. There really shouldnt be any babies at this time of year so maybe he just wanted to give you a good photo op.

Terrific shot Mike. I like how you caught the bird landing or taking off. Let me add my welcome back to you also. I haven't been on for a while due to my health and trying to get things done around the house. Hope to get on a more regular bais again before to long ( if my health will let me ) !!
