Description
"another planet that looks just like Earth! what are the chances???"
Growing up as a child of the first Moon landing and Star Trek the first time around, I guess this sort of thing is inevitable.Though not the reason for the render....I got my first copy of Bryce years ago, and as with models, texturing fascinated me.I spent endless hours making weird and wonderful landscapes and applying my own textures.Following my recent Poser issues,(sorry to harp on about that, but it led to some interesting discoveries.) I came across a folder called '?Bryce'.It contains an awful lot of renders pretty much like this one. This is a photograph of about 150 sq yds of Welsh hillside (taken by me) applied to a couple of sq miles of Bryce terrain, although I've actually posted this one because I like the sky, and there's no postwork.....The ST shuttle was added just to break things up a bit and the title and opening came to me as I was looking at it.
To regular posters in the SF Gallery, fear not, I'm just passing through.I visit here often though am lamentably lax with comments.
The ST shuttle is one of the excellent Innovari craft for Bryce.
To my regular viewers, The X-craft are coming, and starting with a BANG!...so chuffed with tomorrows post, I nearly posted it today, but a lot of writing to go with it.......
Thanks for looking and any comments....see you back on planet Earth....

Well, this was interesting. Stretching a photo of Welsh country side over a Bryce terrain model. Then add sky, and bingo, we have an interesting planet seen from several hundreds of meters up. Adding the explorer vehicle was smart - gives the whole thing some perspective. Ah, the nostalgia of the first moon landing and the sense of optimism for "tomorrow" - the same as the folks in the explorer above are feeling for this new planet? This was a nice surprise, Neil. And X-craft? Star Wars? Or..... I can't wait! :-)

Sorta wish I was around someone who's shoulder I could look over to see how some of these programs like Bryce work...for sure I am too lazy to figure it out on my own:-) I like the idea that you can take a photo and add its texture to rendered terrain...limitless possibilities. Anyway, I like your results here. Dayton has an entire hangar full of X-craft. I'll have to dig around and see what I can add from there.

Star Trek....HOW COOL>.. The original, of course!!!!! And I seem to have started a monster by 'mentioning' X-planes lol Sorry Neil mate! Seems you are not the only one.... I LOOK forward to this masterpiece! And this is great work, LOVE the background... Where? Rob

A true "Trek" moment with a bit of work in Bryce. I find myself agreeing with bmac52 about wanting to watch over someones shoulder. I've used Bryce to create a couple of odd worlds for my Poser Renders but I'm far from using Bryce in totally creative ways. Excellent image.

You're never lax with the comments. Great render, I've been trying to figure out where the Welsh hills end and the Bryce hills begin- very well blended. Is there intelligent life on Wales?

I grew up around the same time and was and still am a huge ST,SW and Galactica fan. Used to amuse me the amount of 'Just Like Earth Planets' but guess it was the only way it got made. Cool render!

Great how you blended the Welsh landscape with the Bryce. Wonderful Star Trek model and thanks for sharing the referral to Innovari.

This is a great look at the Welsh country side and the Star Trek shuttle fits in very well. Nice work.

Actually, we "Sci-Fiers" don't mind you joining us. Love the background--reminds me a bit of some Cezanne landscapes.
