Description

I am (pretty much) equal parts nervous and excited about sharing this image. Not only did we work REALLY hard on the day of the shoot, but I spent a fair bit of time working on this to get it perfect. I really hope that hard work shows. Note: The bald head is not Photoshop :) Lighting I used my usual three-point lighting setup: A 65W Ring Light as my main light source with two Canon 580EX II speedlights for the rim-lighting. The speedlights were inside 1.8 meter high gridded strip boxes on and were at 1/16th power. The ring-light was quite far away from her, so I got nice, small catch-lights in the eyes. Lighting Diagram Model: Laurette Van Der Walt Make-Up Artist: Zanel Allison Location: Studio, Johannesburg, South Africa More info about the shoot here Thanks in advance for all comments, favourites and watches. Even if I don't reply and say thanks to all of them, I really appreciate all the feedback you guys give me. All images are copyright (c) Johann Marx. I'm a science fiction nerd and my first reaction to the thumbnail of this photo was: My gods! Where did he manage to find a Minbari model?...well, sort of. The Minbari have a somewhat more prominent set of ridges that meld back into the crest of bone behind the head...but still...those cheek ridges recall some of my favorite Hollywood TV aliens. This is an amazing shot and I'd love to see more. You worked on this and it shows! Fantastic work. A new favorite. I mean, you do humans really frakkin' well, but now you've gone and photographed...um...well...a human who looks a wee bit like something else. This is super!
