Description

The turkey is a large bird native to northern and central Europe, where he still lives in the wild. Like most of the fowl, turkeys are polygamous and costumes gather in small flocks made up of a male and a dozen females. To win the female turkey stands stiff, swollen neck and its tail. The male turkey has, like the female, head and neck covered with a red leather and grainy. But the body of the male is larger than the female, and is covered by a conspicuous layer of colored feathers. Because of its great size, the turkey conducts most of its existence on the soil and is practically incapable of flying. Can barely get up in the air, but does so rarely. Today is a farm animal that is bred on a large scale for the good meat. The breed is distinguished by wild turkeys home for more streamlined shape and plumage marked with a metallic sheen, green and bronze, is particularly pronounced in the male. The male wild turkey reaches an average of 10 kg. The coloration of the naked parts of the head is pink and bluish. On these bare parts stand out, in males, showy caruncles (fleshy excretion) of a bright red. Among the domestic breeds, many do not exceed, per mole of the wild species, but other portions colossal reach up to 30 kg. Turkeys feed on plants, grains and worms if they eat a little of everything free, they are omnivores. The female produces the eggs of the turkey, which hatches in 27-28 days, the number of eggs that can hatch from 8 to 18. The lifespan is 12 years.
