Description

The Vad are a race of Telesenders, known throughout the Galaxy as teachers, scholars, and healers. Descended from a a species of aquatic mammals on their homeworld, which has only a 36 percent landmass, they are a very specific type of telepath. In ancient times, their ancestors could send messages and talk over thousands of miles, because they lived under water for the most part. similar to Earth's whales and to a lesser extent dolphins and porpoises, they talked and listened for reply, their large fore-brain tuned for this feature. As they evolved, and moved onto land, and later into space, they found it much easier to send thoughts, words, images without having to punch through the heavy medium of water, enabling them to directly communicate with lesser minds. As teachers, they are able to "broadcast' the total sum knowledge of a subject to students effortlessly. They are also one of the few races to never have been conquered by an alien race. Using their power, they "convince" battlefleets that they are landing on the planet, to the cheering of the populace, they take off their helmets to breathe the free Vad air... and start to suffocate. It's at that moment, the Vad turn off the message, and the aggressor finds themselves on the ffar side of the moon, surrounded by the remains of other battlefleets, also telesendically "convinced" that they are on the planet's surface.... It is for this reason, that the Vad are feared throughout... do we really know what we are seeing and thinking is real... There is this old saying... "Yeah, that'd be the Vad in the room." Other Existances by Basil Cromfeeld a new, occasional run series... have to have a place for my aliens to go...also a good place to place Shallah in prominence. He looks a bit like actor Chris Heyerdahl, from the "Sanctuary" series. comments welcome, please enjoy!

I am absolutely not familiar, with anything you are writing about - only have one thing to say, he looks pretty impressive - our teachers were nothing like this ever, it would have scared hell out of me anyway and alternatively I may have listen a bit more closely to the teachings of the elders, hmmm maybe - maybe not! Run for the hills ... BB
