Description

Still messin' around with lighting, filters, and other fun bits. This CG stuff never gets old... This is Deena from Illusions Designs doing a little modeling for me on the warm, sunny beach (it's cold and gray here today..) No, it's not MoFo Beach, it's actually Clearwater Beach near Tampa/St. Petersberg, Fla. Quite a lovely location! Deena is modeling the Bikini and sandals from mamomamo, Fujiko-san's friend that makes some wonderful freebies. I used two infinite lights, and one spotlight for this. One infinite light simulates the direct sunlight, and I used another infinite light in front, and a spot in back to *try* and simulate the reflected light from the sand. I used SSS nodes for her skin, of course. Any thoughts are welcome. Also used a slight softening filter (Virtual Photographer > Dadscamera) in Photoshop to give it a bit of a glamour photo effect. Thanks as always for all your comments, faves, emails, sitemails, and support. Rendo folks are the BEST!

Okay, TOTALLY jealous here!!! We're entering into winter and Clearwater beach looks as good as I remember it!!! Nice job!!! Love the white sand here as opposed to the brown sand of New England...but hey, any old beach in the warm weather!!!

What a beautiful day and beach. Gives me warm thoughts. Once again you did a most excellent job on merging the 3d model into a photo! Wow, you so impress me with that. I am in awe.

i immediately knew it was not MoFo beach let alone FuFo beach, because otherwise she would already have to pay big time for not following the dress code hehehehehe.

Lighting? Perfect! Terrific work! I love the VP filter ... it helps tie in the Poser figure with the photograph. (pssst: 3 degree rotation clockwise to straighten the horizon.) Love, love, love that bright semi-tropical sunlight! We don't get it here, and it's an absolute treat to see. You did great getting her to match the photo, lighting wise. Nice!

Rod, I don't even know where you live man, do you live near this beach or were you on vacation? I was at this beach at the end of September - less than 2 months ago - I was there in 2003... and .... I'm sure I'll be there again when the good lord feels I deserve it - I love Florida - I'd love to visit there every chance I get - But... I wouldn't want to live there - they don't have Mountains.... they don't have snow.... they don't have my family.... we'll, they have my extended family, so I have to correct that. I spent a couple hours at this beach by myself walking a shootting shots, I'll have to check with my Wife for sure if it's the same beach that I took pictures of - but yeah, mikeerson has walked that beach.

WOOOOOOOOOOOW! This gorgeous Rod! I LOVE that beautiful bikini! VERY colorful! The pose is very model-ish (if that's a word, LOL) and you nailed the lighting, I think. The only think that looks good, but not quite right is her shadow. Not that I could do better mind you. When comparing her shadow to the one cast by the umbrella, hers looks really close. But, something doesn't look completely natural. Ah! I think I know now ... I think there should be some small sub-shadows within her shadow, showing the peeks and valleys in the sand, like you see in the umbrella shadow. Not sure how you would do that. Like I said, I don't claim to be able to do it any better myself. But since you, like myself, prefer honest feedback I figured I should put my two cents in. Having said ALL THAT ... I think this beach scene is AWESOME, and you did a great job of it. Better than most people would have taken the time to do. SUPERB!!

I live near the beach, too, and this image is dead-on with the sunlight and shadows on the sand. The only thing I (who knows nothing) might mention is the reflective 'sparkle' on different areas of beach sand, depending on viewing angle. This is really, really well done, Rod!
