Description

This is a Heron nicknamed Big Bird who has taken to hunting at the top end of my three acre field, on Saturday morning I watched through a pair of binoculars as he very slowly sneaked up on something and like lightning speared it ,he then held it up and I watched while he let it drop down his throat, It looked like a small rat, Yum Yum. I took a lot of shots of him with a 300mm lens but even then he was a very small in the shot, this was the sharpest and is only about a quarter of the frame. Zoom is good.

Great shot and zoom! I'm very lucky that we live on a lake and get to watch the herons, wood stocks and egrets 'fish' along the shore line.

This would be the heron you want the 600mm lens for, I take it? I like his her name, "Big Bird". Am sorely jealous of this being on YOUR land, I had to get in the car to get my shot ;)
