Description

The part of the world where I live does not have "grand vista's"; there are no impressive mountain ranges, not even gently rolling hills. The closest things to that we have here are terrain elevations of a couple of meters. And what we do have here is a patchy landscape: Patches of farmland mixed with patches of forest and heath and marsh. This landscape is dissected by a couple of small, meandering streams and brooks and dappled by fens so where ever you are water is always nearby. The soil is poor and sandy so even with all the water the higher grounds are dry and there are even sand dunes in some places where only gnarled pines and hardy grasses will survive. The lower parts however have a lush vegetation existing of grass, sedge, heather and all kinds of weeds; trees that thrive well are all kinds of willows, poplars and birches. On the slightly elevated terrain you can find oak, maple, ash, beech and pines and of course wild cherries, especially the American species (Prunus serotina) With the narrow roads and unpaved paths and cart trails it is perfect for a walk or a bike ride and there's always a nice view around the next corner. I'm happy to live here, can you tell? In this render I tried to recreate the landscape not far from where I live and work, what I can encounter on a ten minutes bike ride early in the morning. This autumn, because of the unusual high average temperatures, even in November some plants were still clinging to summer where others already did surrender to the approaching winter. This is what it did look like on a calm, hazy morning with birches still in their golden outfit, heather still in the aftermath of late summer bloom and poplars already without leaves, only partially covered by ivy. Credits: Stream created with dandelO's masked water clip.(Planetside forums) Birch - modified Silver Birch by lightning. Heather - modified Pinus nigra bush by lightning. Long grasses by lightning. Rickety Bridge object by Thundering.(ShareCG) Ivy created with IvyGenerator. Poplars created with Arbaro. Thank you for viewing and comments. Andy

Nicely done. Obviously, in the hands of someone like yourself, even a 'mundane' landscape can become a work of art!

And your explanation of your homeland that saved you from one of my tirades on just putting trees on flat ground when TG2 can do so much more... Actually I like this one a lot, Andy - especially the early morning feel of the lighting. Excellent in every way!
