Description

This render took over nine hours!!!!! I don't like long renders but was busy with Chritmas things so just let it crank away. Don't know why it took so long....it seems kind of a simple design. Anyway, thanks for looking. MB3D Lyla

There are a few things that make renders take longer. If your Raystep multiplier or Stepwidth limiter are set much lower than 0.1 they can add a lot of time. Also if your using formulas that have a name that start with "_" such as _FlipXYC they are only a partial formula menat to enhance others so they end up going thru several hundred thousand more calculations than a closed formula does. They can prove very helpful and increase complexity in a design, but they do add to your render time.

Beautiful, Lyla! Well worth the time. Gorgfeous colors. Adding to greyone: Lighting can also add a lot of render time. Corrie

A couple of different things can make for long Renders, Multiple transforms (Any formula starting with _### is a Transform not a stand alone formula) there pre and post transforms using them in the wrong place will lengthen a render, they will work but just make it long. A DE Combinate is going to be longer because of extensive calculations in combining the 2 seperate formula sets and also there are just some Bulbe and Quats that are very complicated to render and also number of iterations for any given formula will increase Render time(a good rule of thumb on #of iterations/formula is to look at the Statistics Tab and check the average iterations of a test render and keep #of iterations/formula set lower than the Avg Itertions). Peace
