Description
I probably won't be taking any new photos for a while, as I am home recovering from major surgery. A cat scan a few weeks ago uncovered a large tumor in my left kidney & the only option was to remove the kidney entirely, which was done on Nov 30th. It has been a painful recovery & I am feeling pretty weak, but the recovery rate from kidney cancer is pretty high, so I'm optimistic. The next milestone is getting the results of the biopsy on my lymph nodes on Wednesday - if those are negative, my chances are excellent - if not, I'll have to deal with a more serious situation. In the meantime, I will post older photos from my files.
This was taken in Oakland, California in 1972. My wife & I, recently married earlier that year, had moved from NYC to Oakland & had rented this apartment in a Victorian building built in 1908. It was a small, but charming two room apartment, with mahogany paneling, pocket doors separating the two rooms, a murphy bed in one room, a trundle bed in the other room, clawfoot bathtub & ornate fixtures (like the radiator you can see on the right side of this picture) & view of the sunset over San Francisco.
The cat is Dave Herman, who was my wife's cat when we met. He was a very sweet & affectionate cat & though we have had many great cats since then, he will always be special to us...

I second that about the prayers for you. Hope you recover completely. Wonderful image, and Victorian surroundings and cats always go together well. San Francisco has some beautiful Victorians. We live around 100 miles from that city. We have had several cats, too, but the first ones are always held special for some reason. We presently have two cats, one is a rescue.
