Description

I'm pretty sure the HG Wells martian figure, which I used as the basis for the Dalek mutant was from ShareCG originally. However, although I found pose-files for it there the actual character seems to have been moved elsewhere. I've supplied the link given on ShareCG below, but I didn't have much luck with it I'm afraid. During the Classic Series of Doctor Who there was a deliberate policy of keeping the creature inside the machine a bit of a mystery. The Doctor may occaisionally remove one from a dormant machine, gallantly telling his companions to turn away as the sight of the mutant is supposed to be so offensive. Over the years a variety of props were used to represent the thing- from novelty gorilla gloves, foam, gloop, gunge, that blobby stuff that you got in tubs in the seventies as well human heads and more comedy claws. The New Series began by basically revealling it to be a octopus type thing with vestigial face and a single eye. Why a bipedal vertebrate should evolve into an octopoid is beyond me, but I guess stranger things have happened. But why bother having any eye at all when you already have a machine one? In the Dalek comic books when they are seen they are like radioactive sponges, as one of them said 'we are all brains'. I think the squidy martian thing makes a good mutant and i'm not too bothered about emulating the New Series version. I did retexture it radically, using texture mattes from Sixus 1's brain creature scene as well as the reflection texture mattes for Tabla's latex materials. So a real Frankenstein's monster that is for sure. Thanks for viewing this monstrosity and all feedback welcome. HG Wells Martian available at http://home.comcast.net/~jpurdon/poser/WellsMartian.zip

That jelly-like form doesn't look very threatening anymore, but I still woundn't want to try it on my morning toast.

Where to begin...the depth in the first image is amazing, a real feeling of being in a BIG structure. The Daleks in the main image are just too real to be true, the textures and light are perfect, they look ready to trundle out the screen. This is an all round brilliant page.... I seem to recall if the Doctor wanted to remove one of the 'creatures', he always wrapped it in his jacket...eeeyuuuukkkkk!.As to the evolution, probably best not to get into that, just give you a headache. One smile from this, the final words "and they call us the abomination" in my mind I hear that in a VERY camp voice :-) I don't know, don't ask.....

Question, how did you create it into a comic like this? I have been wanting to do this for awhile with some of my images but never could figure it out.
