Description

Original shot 1946 (obviously not mine). My photo 2011. The barracks were built to serve Fort Pearce. The fortifications were constructed between 1910 and 1916. This isolated base was manned during WW1 and WW2, but was then abandoned and has been slowly returning to nature ever since. Victoria Australia.

All is gone! Including the pier on the background! But the landscape is the same. It makes you think about men's ephemerals creations. Wow, Today I get out of bed feeling philosophical.

Do you know what they are going to build there now? I also love that the power or phone pole that is at the base of the cliff is gone in todays capture. :)))) Dang poles. :)))))) Most wonderful look back at a time when I wasn't. LOL!!! Most excellent captures my friend. :))))) Thank you so very much for sharing. :))))))))) Carry A Smile In Your Heart :)))))))

Hi Laura. Nothing! The whole area is in a remote part of a national park, so nothing will be built here. It is the same as it was when the army left all those years ago and will remain so.

Lots of coastal emplacements in the same shape here. Neat juxtaposition of then and now.
