As this developed, I remembered hiking in late fall and seeing these hidden little patches where winter hadn't touched yet, and you would be amazed at the plants that were still surviving, so I tried to capture something like it here...

Nicely done! There are some small plants scattered around the ground, they need to be masked off to get rid of that black background surrounding each one.
