Description
Yes, this is a huge one, for weighing all that silver and gold. Nevada State Museum, Carson City, Nevada.
The sign says: "Bullion Scales c. 1870's The U. S. Treasury Department's 10,000 ounce beam scales were found in all of the various branch Mints around the country. These scales were used in the melter and refiner's office to weigh shipments of gold and silver. They were used to track large quantities of the metals as they went through the various processes of refinement within the Mint."
This building in Carson City, NV, was formerly the U.S. Mint building. It is now the Nevada State Museum.

What a beautiful object. Excellent lines and craftsmanship. Marvelous setting and capture. The lines of paneling and the floor, and colors of the walls compliment it nicely. I love the POV and the light reflection being in the center at the top. Great information too.
