Description

there were a couple points brought up regarding the image that I posted: crop out the pipe (the pipe actually connects the two ponds together) and the pixelation. I pulled the original image and I cropped it and ran the smoother through it. Here is the result here is the link to the other post (four images ago) http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2277997

losing the pipe does help the composition and maybe changing it to b/w would help clear up the noise

I really didn't think the pipe was a problem, but seeing it without the pipe I have to agree this even better. Great job Mike.

I'll have to take a look for myself, but this is pretty good.

It's not easy to capture under moonlight conditions. I think this scene is quite striking.

Um...I liked the original one the best. The pipe didn't bother me. This got lightened up considerably and it would appear the smoother left it's own sort of artifacts. Unless you have a very expensive camera and lenses (like Nikon or Canon 35mm digital SLRs) and a tripod, chances are pretty much any photo taken this time of day or later is going to be a bit jpeg-y. Some worse than others. It's just to be expected. This has been my experience anyway. But that is just me. It's still a great photo of the moon on the water :)

Hmmm...I actually didn't mind the last image at all, including the noise and the pipe. Still, this has a bit of a different look to it.

Better without the pipe. The concentration is now on the reflection and the moon. Nice work.

I see the Black and White comment.... I think you have more noise in the B&W than you do here.... I'd add more light to the imagae and play around with your contrast to drop some of that noise - heck, if you would going to try and sell something like this, you might even think about dropping in a different sky.

The pipe directs the drainage, and adds character. The focus is the beautiful reflections and that doesn't change. Both are very impressive.

Superb postwork on this, Mike! I like both versions, but I think this one is more 'art-y' if you know what I mean. This is one of the really cool things about digital photography - there are almost limitless ways to 'fiddle' with an image and really have fun seeing what kinds of effects you can get. Keep experimenting, Bro! It keeps you young! (well, kind of... LOL)
