Description

"bawaajige nagwaagan-dreamsnare" The dreamsnare or dreamcatcher originated with the Ojibway/Chippewa First Nations of Canada/USA. Made of willow hoops, sinew and beads and/or feathers they were believed to help protect a sleeping person from having nightmares. During the 1960s, other other first nation groups started making them as a sign of Indian unity and shortly thereafter they were being mass produced for not only the North American market but for markets around the world. Unfortunately the mass production came mostly from Asia and were made of plastics etc and although the may look nice they don't work!! If you have the catchers set up and your not sleeping, check and see whether it really is "bawaajige nagwaagan". This is fractal made in MB34, pw in CS4, and twisted brushes.

Wonderful MB3D image. Glenda and I live in northern Manitoba. The first nations folks up here (mostly Cree) make dreamcatchers. They can be quite intricate in design.
