Description

When I drive out to the beach, I pass thru lots of pastures and farmland. This old windmill seems to lean and lose more of its blades every time I see it. It's not easy to photograph; it's across a narrow road and I had to stop IN the road to shoot. Fortunately, no cars came to interrupt me!!

You've made my day. You have taken a picture of a genuine, self-oiling, Chicago-made Aeromotor Windmill...known as the Cadillac of windmills. One of these all fixed up today will bring over $3,000. The company is the only one making farm windmills in the USA today. YeeHaa!

This is at least fifty years old. Aermotor was bought out in 1958 and moved out of Chicago in 1964. A great shot of this old classic! (Oh. Bill just told me he was commenting on your picture. We were both researching it at the same time! LOL!)

Oh yes, the venerable Aeromotor windmill, I remember it well from my youthful days on the farm. Anyway, sterling color and contrast in this night shot, taken under hazardous conditions, Ms Marilyn.

This is quite nice! I love the Chicago connection, as emblazoned on that little rudder thingie and further illuminated by Bill and Tara! I learn so much just from reading their comments. I had to laugh at the idea of yet another company moving out of Chicago, and it's almost heartening, or dis-heartening to realize that such a trend has been taking place for a long time! I also like the off-center POV. The empty space on the right really makes this photo pop! There's a whole, bizarre mathematical reason for part of that, and yeah, it involves the Fibonacci Spiral I went on (and on) about a while back...and I'm always pleased to see it in action! I especially like the darkness on the right and the splash of color on the canted windmill itself. Now, all this shot needs is a little-bitty Spanish guy on a little-bitty horse, charging at it because he thinks it's a dragon. This is really nice! I like it quite a lot! It has such a great mood.

What a great find and perfect title; wonderful work you did getting this under those unfavourable conditions. I'm often tempted to do the same, but it would really snarl traffic up (and net me a big ticket!) if I did it here on the 520 bridge!

It certainly is beginning to tilt and the ‘fantail’ is all kinds of bent. I like the way the light hits the remaining blades. Wonderful shot.
