Description
Render of a scene from a novel I'm writing.
This scene is from Alex and Cassie's first date, dancing on Alex's father's yacht, at a dinner party he was holding. The song they were dancing to was "As the World Falls Down" (lyrics by David Bowie - from the movie Labyrinth)
Excerpt from the story (kept short and removed some of the words from the song for the sake of space!):
***
Alex put his arm around me and pulled me to him. I stared up into his eyes, and although I felt embarrassed at the appraisal by the crowd, when his eyes met mine all I could see was him. I heard the band start playing some music, and Alistair continued speaking.
"Now this song has been requested by Alex, for Cassandra, and it's absolutely my pleasure to be able to serenade these two young lovebirds." He laughed, and then the tune the band was playing changed into a tune that I recognized.
I stared, smiling, up at Alex, and he led me to the dance floor. His arms wrapped around me just as Alistair started to sing the song from my favorite movie.
"There's such a sad love, deep in your eyes
A kind of pale jewel, open and closed within your eyes
I'll place the sky within your eyes
There's such a fooled heart, beating so fast
In search of new dreams, a love that will last within your heart
I'll place the moon within your heart..."
Alex swept me around in his arms, the twinkle lights reflecting in his eyes, which were looking deeply into mine. He was singing along with his father, singing to me, and my heart was soaring. I felt like I was flying, my arms around his neck, my feet felt like they were barely touching the floor. He made dancing with him so easy. He smiled at me.
"I'll paint you mornings of gold
I'll spin you valentine evenings
Though we're strangers til now
We're choosing the path between the stars
I'll lay my love between the stars..."
I closed my eyes, and rested my head against his shoulder while we danced, hearing his heart beating, steady and sure. Wait a minute - was he meant to have a heartbeat? I couldn't say that I'd ever noticed it. Did vampires have heart beats?

And, with that, I'd like to dedicate this one to my father, Bazza, to thank him for helping me with all sorts of learning curves with my first render, including suggestions with lighting, checking my (probably) dozens of renders while I worked on this, and of course for some post-render working to help get it right!
There will be other pictures to come, hopefully, with more little excerpts.
