On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Outstanding POV employed to snap this urban elysium, Bill, but where's all the traffic? Early Sunday morning?

Dallas has a buried freeway now, since they built a park above it.when the trees get planted they are only allowed to grow so much then they will remove and replace with young trees. I have only been at the airport in Chicago but did get a birds view of the city outstanding cityscape and Merry Christmas to you and all of your family and a very Happy New Year!

Wow. From the angle of my shot, you'd never even know this was here! I mean the road ... not Chicago in general. :P That was a nice morning, just wandering without a plan. :)

That is interesting to have seen the photo of the photographer taking a photo then to see that photo that he took! Great shot!

You and Tara make Chicago look so good. I knew this was here, I've been on Columbus Drive more times than I care to admit. Heck, I've been under Columbus Drive more times than I care to remember, but this really makes that whole area seem new and shiny, and clean! I love the colors and the light and the upwardness of those buildings. I'm also taken with the whole urban canyon thing and I find that the Columbus Drive "maw" leading underground recalls a river either emerging from an underground source, or making its oh-so-casual way into a cave, full of all sorts of interesting, eyeless creatures inside. Wonderful!

And a deep covered gorge dead ahead!

Aha, now we know! - thanks for letting us in on the 'secret' - but it's a concrete jungle out there alright, been there and done that! I'm so glad I am back with Mother nature again - having said all that - it is fascinating and a great POV, BB

Well, that's an amazing scene, and a great shot of it, Bill! Well worth the 'photographer's elbows' from steadying your camera for this shot.

A real man made canyon. Beautiful illustration of monolithic functional modern architecture. Scarcely a decoration to break the monotony. The tunnel is a nice addition to accentuate the canyon. I hope you've had a good Christmas. Take care and have a Happy New Year. :-)

would have never thought wonderful capture warm hugs, Linda
