Description

Batteries, eh? Youngsters today complain when their I-pod batteries run out, but what have they got to worry about? They aren't likely to get blown up while recharging, are they... ??? Neil's U-boat looked so great I thought I'd take it on a spin all the way to the Atlantic. And to top it off, In the Bay of Biscay we met this really awesome white flying boat... That's right, I had to squeeze a flying boat into the story somehow. In World War Two, losses of U-boats transitting through the Bay of Biscay got so bad that at one point the Nazis had the bright idea of setting some U-boats up as mini-flak ships, bait, to lure down and destroy the marauders. There must have been a fancy name for this radical program which I forget, but an uncomfortable number of these suicidal U-boats would soon be called "overdue..." The plan was abandoned. Rendered in Vue 8 Esprit. Niel's shiny new U-boat (Share CG), fresh from the wrapping.... see, I didn't blow it up. I also found the low-res Sunderland model on Share CG (Dalmatiner). Face it, if you are on a U-boat, you don't want to be able to read a Sunderland's registration number.

Everthing looks so peaceful...so far. Hopefully the Sunderland crew is looking the other way. I like the wake that you used...it's subtle and really contributes to the peaceful feel of the scene. Always good for creating anxiety in this scenario. Very appropriate atnosphere for this as well. Nice work...(I guess Bazze's U-99 can finally go back to the pens for some much needed R&R.) Do you mean "see, I didn't blow it up."...."YET"?

This is darned good work. I doubt if I can improve on steelrazer's comment. Now I MUST get Neil's latest model - this u-boat. Thanks for the beautiful render. From the banking of the plane it looks like it's coming in for a bomb run. Keep up the good work! :-)

:-) wonderful image, thanks for not sinking it straight away...well if you made it all the way to the Atlantic, 'Tailspin' didn't do any serious damage. Glad you squeezed the flying boat in there, just wouldn't be a 'Briney' with anything else....all the best mate..

Very fine picture. I can smell the diesel and his noise. Then I remember the film "Das Boot" (what was the english title? I couldn't remeber). A lot of men lost their lifes in these tin cans for a stupid propaganda.
