Description

Ramphastos toco. Their beaks fascinate me, so that's what I took a picture of. The beak is used to cool the bird, and is very lightweight. It is well endowed with blood vessels for the purpose of controlling the bird's body temperature.

What a beak that bird has to carry around! Beautiful color. I did not know that it served a purpose - very interesting to know. Next time someone with a big mouth is letting out hot air, I'll tell them they are just like the mighty Toco Toucan!!
