Fantastic capture of this pivotal piece of machinery, and that's a pretty cool hunk of aircraft attached to it :-) Still a runner going by the drip tray, does it still fly ? I hope so... Thanks for a year of interesting and entertaining pictures, all the best for the New Year, catch you in 2012...

Nice shot. I see the tailwheel is the pneumatic tire (just like virtually every Corsair and Hellcat) not the solid "deck" tire most Wildcats today use even though they can loosen your fillings - lol. And we have the stock electric prop as required by the original model engine. If an engine from a T-28 (for instance) is installed an hydraulic prop is run. And you might just notice the insignia (star and bar) is just the white and does not include the blue disc background or surround. Oddly, it was only Grumman that applied to the Navy for this shortcut (for all their aircraft types) even though the insignia blue is virtually invisible against the overall blue finish. For instance, if you look closely at all blue Corsairs, wartime, not restored, you should be able to just make the insignia blue out. There are a LOT of Corsairs painted "wrong" today - lol.
