Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

I like the mix of bright primary colours with the sepia'ish background tonality. This lends the image a kind of "We're makin the best of a bad situation" vibe - perhaps reminiscent of the predicament China herself faces. Good work

A fantastic shot. Great POV and beautiful colors. I like the dramatic looking sky. Excellent work!

You've succeeded in removing much of the banal reality from this shot; I like the surreal sky behind, there's almost a peri-apocalyptic feel to this. Well done!

A very good photograph!

So only ONE COW for each?... or not... maybe they spelled it right after all. Nothing to do with cows ;-) Just kidding, but I like the shot very much :)

This is a very cool image, so bright. Very clean for an out door sign too I thought it was CG at first. Thanks for sharing the image and your great story.

There is something most compelling about this hyper-reality.

Yes yes yes! Exactly. Grab a package of Pecan Sandies and come right over here, and we'll sit down and talk about this. I've got cold Diet Cokes in the fridge already. It's all about taking the ordinary and making it ... different ... better ... whatever. You and I both do it, albeit in different styles, and come up with something that isn't TRULY what was there. I mean ... of course it was there ... we've got photos to prove it ... but it wasn't really LIKE that! I need to get busy and post some pictures that I took when you and I were standing next to each other. In particular, pictures we took at the same time of the same thing! (Like the pictures of that glowering sky from the bridge over the Chicago river.) And even more particularly, pictures you've already posted in your gallery so I can make links and re-amaze myself that we see things the way we do. (Not just you and I, but everybody. I bet if you took 50 RR photogs and put them in front of the Art Institute (well ... the side entrance with all the glass) you'd get 50 different shots. Okay, maybe 25. But you know what I mean. And once you HAVE the shot, postwork gives you absolutely unlimited options! Life is good. :) Do you know, I think there are reason we're friends. LOL! :D

Love your postwork here! Once again, you've managed to create a very powerful mood! Great shot!

This picture really pops out of it's two dimensional frame & announces it's presence in a very dramatic way. I think what I would call the kind of hyper-reality you've created here is ART.

it is a cool looking collection of signs and fits in with all the Chinatowns across this great land!
