Description

There's a joke that if you can remember the 60's you didn't live the 60's. Well, I came of age in the late 60's and I definitely remember the wildly painted and stickered VW vans favored by the younger generation. Most weren't professionally painted like this one; this is actually a 1969 model so it was made late in the decade. But it sure manages to capture many of the icons of the era: The Beatles, The Doors, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan and on and on. It was one of the most popular exhibits at the San Diego Automotive Museum when I visited. Enjoy, man.

Groovy man! :D Wonderful presentation of the different POVs of the cool van! :) I was just a young child during the 60's so I remember it, but I'm sure a few of my babysitters don't. ;)

I came of age in the early 60s...then served in Armor (tanks)...my dreams used to be filled with using tie-dyed VW vans as moving targets on tank ranges. For any of my old hippy friends that may read this...I've mellowed:-)

Very well done, I do admit I in 1968 I had a 1959 vw bug with a sunroof, it was yellow and I had flower decals on it... somewhere I have a picture or two which if I can find I will scan and post. Great memories... I think!

I do remember those years....of course living in Sardinia has meant learning about the big talks later than in other parts of the world.But my radio saved me from ignorance!!!
