Description

Desolate Namib desert with wall from WW 1 Namibia has only a little over 2 million inhabitants, but is a huge country; 825,418 km2. As comparison, in the Netherlands we live with 16 million on 41,543 km2 (Namibia is 20 times lager then The Netherlands). In most of the area in Namibia you are as alone on the world, a world which you share with wildlife!! Photo's (panorama stitch) taken in the southern part of Namibia, near the town of Aus!! It is in the Namib desert not so far away from the closed area with all the diamonds !!. In the planes in front of you, you can’t find any house and is pitch dark during the night, if there isn’t a moon!! We where in the area with a moon eclipse, spectacular despite some clouds. It was in this area that there has been a battle between the Germans and the South African army, a lot of leftovers from this period of the WW I can still be found. On internet a lot of info and stories from this period can be found. Very pleasant for tourists like we is that you can make safely long walks in this area, and due to the time of the year, winter in June on the southern hemisphere, it was during the day nice warm weather, but freezing cold after sunset until the next morning. The scenery is breath taking in this area of Namibia!! We made in May / June 2011 a trip through the southern part of Africa ( RSA, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia) .
