Description
Well following my enforced pre Christmas 'holiday' in Berlin, I needed something to get 'The Plant' back on-line. If there was ever an Iconic plane it's got to be the Douglas DC3/C47/AC47...One of the first on my to-do list but put off and put off until I was comfortable about attempting it.Not something I could do a 'that's near enough job' and be happy.Well RetroDK got in touch and suggested this along with a couple of others, though his wish was the AC-47 Gunship.Well you know by now the aircraft Wombles at 'The Plant' will do anything for a quite life, and this was too good to pass up.Build a C-47 and stick a couple of mini-gun barrels on the side..2 for 1.Of course I can't make things that simple as the inset shows, well if your going to have a cockpit why not a mini-gun or 3.Of course this goes way beyond such simplicity, this is about as far as it's got so far though it does have wheels so 'Tailspin' can land it..When finished this will have, civil interior and paintjobs for a bit of intrigue in Casablanca 1930's style.Empty cargo space for moving your nic-nacs, para seating for a bit of WWII canopy dangler action as well as the gunship option should you feel like throwing a few rounds down range. Not sure how many textures I'll do for this, but with 70+ years service it deserves a few.So with so much to do I can't see this being ready before the weekend :-) Probably middle of next week'ish, but I'll let you know.
Thanks for all the R.S.V.P's for the Fun Day, it's shaping up to be better than last year, though I still don't know what 'Tailspin' is planning race wise.
Thanks for dropping by, and for any comments....

Sweet job. One of my favorites. During the war, both Japan and Russia built them under license.

Fantastic modeling! Corrie

Great modeling Neil...and if you have nothing else to do (HA!), you might consider modeling a WACO glider for a tow behind accessory for your C-47. My father took me to Mitchell Field on Long Island in New York when I was a wee lad to see C-47s towing gliders...a sight I'll never forget. It could have been in late 1943 or early 1944 with me being 3 1/2 give or take a few months.

Outstanding job on this one mate.

"When the seat-belt sign switches of you are free to move about the cabin... However, our friendly hostesses will be shortly bringing out the ... MINIGUNS, so we recommend you stay seated." Fine reproduction of a classic, its looking great.

Oh, MY! This looks great already! Man, if they'd had such mini-guns in WWII, pity the poor German and Jap fliers! This looks like a tall order, but...you say 1 - 2 weeks? I'm amazed at the speed you work! I wish I had such proficiency! I remember riding these back in 1956. Copenhagen airport to Malmö airport. Also on continental Europe. After the war, it appears a lot of these were bought by European airlines to get started with regular air travel. I recall the rides were a bit bumpy, and one's ears would go popity-pop. No pressurized cabins in these planes. I'm looking foreward to this release from the Plant! Do I need to say "Keep up the good work"? You really beat me to it! Cheers! :-) PS- as a new avatar, why not a portrait of Tailspin? Or is that an "obscene" suggestion? :)

The Douglas DC3 has to be one of my alltime favourites. Such a timeless design with a wonderful engine noise. Who can forget the church scene in the film 'A Bridge Too Far' when these thunder overhead. So many variations of this, Military and Civil will make this one outstanding :) 10++

This is looking mighty fine , Neil! The dusty mat of the texture is perfect and the bumps nicely handled. I'm really looking forward to the finished masterpiece. I do have one question though...given the production output that highlights your shop...prodigious to say the least, I hope that we are not going to find out somehow that you are hiring Poser4 figures paying them a pittance and abusing them with horrific overtime and no health plan? A scandal like that would likely rock the Rendo. Also would likely get you accused of Poser class warfare. Nah.

Yeah..is Steelrazer right...are you runninhg a Sweatshop???
