Description

Once the berth of ocean going liners travelling the world, now a scrap yard. One of Liverpools massive docks re-tasked, and with no steel industry to speak of, most of this will end up in a furnace in China. Then British industry will pay a fortune to buy it back and ship it to Southampton.A sad reflection on a City built on world trade. Another view of Liverpools ever changing skyline, I do love living on the Mersey and find a kind of beauty even in a sight like this....... Blimey! not a plane in sight, though there may be one in all that scrap. The DC-3 seemed like a long haul, so I'm going to 'TRY' for a week with no aircraft posts....so my next post will be in 8 days LoL!!!.. no, I'm working on a 'Winter' scene with something I bought myself for Christmas.... Huge thanks for all the positive feedback on the DC-3/C-47...and in the words of A.Non.Emouse "Top that"...well I'll try...

A beautiful but sad scene. British industry is sadly no more in so many areas. Oh how we laughed when one of my mates dad brought a new Hyundai Pony in the early 80s. Is there a single british family saloon made in britain by a british owned company, can't think of one. Sorry times indeed.

Was looking at this area using Google Earth just the other day. Some mighty ships came and went from here...and the Titanic was outfitted here... An excellent pano of the scrapyard today. Well done sir:)

A sad tale you tell. The world is on an ever going sad track it seems. We watch places of commerce and work dry up and disappear everyday. So many lost jobs and damaged lives. It is a beautiful image, but another reminder of the road we travel too. Be looking forward to this something you are working on. Gonna miss not seeing your planes tho.

Iron and Steel. Coal and Coke. Ship Building and Car Manufacturing (even motorbikes). We were World leaders in so many things that have now sadly gone. Then we became a world leader in something else - Call-Centres. Now they have sadly been transfered to other lands. Perhaps what we need is to become a World leader in somethong else - I offer for example "Household Waste Re-cycling". A great image Neil mate of a by-gone age now sadly dead and gone.

Again the resemblance to some parts of Southampton is astonishing- shame local press and politicians down here have been engaging in so much s*** stirring about Liverpool lately. Excellent photo!

When I was in high school we lived up on a bluff overlooking the port and city of Tacoma. (It's an area of tide flats and dredged canals, taken over totally by industry.) I can attest to the fascination and beauty of such a landscape. I love your panos! :)

Sad, so sad Neil.. Sad to hear about and... it must be said, just sad to look at! And that is allot of sadness.. And our Government STILL sells firms, and industries to other Countries.... When will they learn... Rob PS: I saw (actually saw) one of the 'new' Chinese branded MG's a few days ago.. Grief it's awful!!!!
