Description
the C 47 is free at sharecg and the glider is available here in the MP . the aerial is mine and is West Texas.I had to remove the circle farming as I doubt it was something to be seen in WWII France
I dedicate this to neiwil and Digimation_ModelBank/Vanishing-point for all the awesome models they have made
the rope used to pull the glider was very small and I have no idea as to how long it was.from this perspective and height it would be hard to see the rope.a hook system was used and the C47 was reported to fly over the glider and would almost instantly yank them to 128 MPH.imagine the whiplashes?

Great job Richard. I don't think you see square field patterns and semi-dry fields in France. But the picture is about the Gooney Bird and the glider and they are fantastic!

Love this pic. My late great uncle Bill Whitacre flew C-47s in WW2. The unit he commanded was tasked with taking US troops behind the lines as part of the DDay invasion. he had the honor of being the first C-47 crossing into nazi held Europe as he led his unit. he flew all his life, helping to pioneer the Airmail and later to found American Airlines. Also was one hell of a fisherman and a terrific man. Love and miss him and my Aunt very much.
