Description

Several dumpsters were located on one of the boat landings in Fish Market were fishing boats off-loaded their fresh catch or fresh-frozen catch (frozen at sea) and delivered it to the adjacent wholesale/retail outlets and to the seafood restaurants that make up the area known as Fish Market. These birds took full advantage of the refuse thrown away by these restaurants and outlets. Seeing these birds and watching them I became aware that there was a definite pecking order. The big bird in the dumpster was an Ibis, they had their choise, while all the smaller birds nearby and waited their turn or were trying to sneak in on the sly. This picture was taken on 5 December 2011, Sig...

This is almost surrealistic! An ibis in a dumpster. Gulls, yes. Crows, yes. But that's because those birds are what I'm used to! Amazing capture.

Nice shot! I don't like to see birds becoming dumpster divers. It doesn't say much for us.

very humorous.I was hoping that you were not going to say that the cans were being taken to the restaurants as the day's catch.even in a trash can the large bird is beautiful
