Description

Sarah Shand is a nineteen-year old who finds herself thrust back into where she struggles to keep her real identity secret from a society that is put off by her strange comments and ideas, not to mention the forwardness in her speech and actions, which are so unlike Victorian women. When Sarah verbally confronts their confining social practices, including arranged marriages between wealthy and influential families, she makes a number of powerful enemies. As a result, she finds herself committed to a lunatic asylum from which she later manages to escape. When she realizes she has fallen in love with the handsome Laird of Weetshill, Robert Robertson, she is torn between finding her way back to her own time and her family or remaining in the past with him. LOVE the depiction of the two very distinct time periods and the idea of looking at herself through a mirror in time. Great concept and I love the earthtones in this. :)

Thanks, Pen. :D Since most of the story is set in the past, where she was dragged to in the first few pages of the book, but she is still very much her modern self, I wanted to show the duality. Making her modern self what she sees in the mirror seemed a cool way, sort of a reverse 'through the looking glass'.

A powerful image to match what sounds like a book that my wife would love to read!
