whenever I return to RR, I do 4 or 5 galleries per week. And it takes me 3 or 4 weeks to get to everyone. Whenever I get to your gallery, it's a revelation. But it's more...I'm always struck at how 'truthful' your art is, how it cuts through the noise & commotion that most of us create, day after day, in our pursuit for 'artistic expression': Your art feels straight from the heart, and straight from the inner eye. It's honest, it's deep, it's deeply in love with the world, and it's a constant dance, a ballet of the soul. I'm always refreshed, afterwards, with the feeling that I've just experienced truth, as well as an ageless & dancing heart... This piece seems so 'obvious' at first: It's a few simple shapes, broad & textured hues, and lines & small visual organisms. But it's so alive & so pure; it's a pure child's vision of the world, where every shape & hue is a living dancing creature. But it (like all your work) also has the maturity of an experienced artist, because of your wonderful way of mixing blues with reds, of partitioning each area with such delightful borders, and of giving each segment a life of its own---like the green horizontal lines in the center, which look like little protozoa making their way home; or like the reds on top & beneath the large semi-circle on the right-side of the piece, and how those red 'blobs' seem to be migrating into everyone else's territory. These all show a faultless sense of how colors & forms 'speak'. It's simple, playful and organic, like all your art; with the sense of 'microorganisms out for a stroll': with the care-free ease of children & the loving gaze of a master-biologist peering into a microscopic scene with his microscope, and quietly reveling in the joy of life playing itself out before his eyes. Wonderful, child-like, unafraid & wholly joyous. A typical Emilio piece.
