My name is Clive, resident in Cape Town, South Africa. I am an amateur photographer who has been enjoying the medium in a more serious manner since 2003.
I took a trip to the UK armed with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I had inherited from my Dad.
Out of the holiday snaps, I managed to get a few that I felt were quite good, but had no idea of how I managed to get them 'right'.
Since then I have done a couple of courses in the darkroom and joined a local photographic society where I was on the committee for a while.
Hopefully I am getting it 'right' more often these days.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7 and being tied into the lens system, the Sony A100 DSLR was my introduction to the digital world. This has recently been upgraded to the Alpha SLT-A55 and I have to admit that I have shot more digital in the last five years than film!
My daughter Kristen (Kris10) and son Sean (fotoSean) have accounts here too, in the hope that they will learn too and share my passion! Sadly they have been rather quiet of late, much like their dad...
August 2015 marks the end of my 3 years as coordinator for the Photographic section of Renderosity. What a wonderful time of my life that I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you all for the opportunity!
Keep the smile alive,
Clive

A really lovely shot. I find myself wanting to jump into the foam when I've been on a ferry!!

I would be down there staring at the roiling wake. It's mesmerizing! We had another couple over for dinner the other night, and were talking about water views. Cindy and I both agreed that sitting and watching the movement sucks the energy right out of us. It's SO relaxing, and SO compelling, that we can sit literally for hours with barely a thought. Just lash me to the railing, and I'll stay out there all day! LOL! Endlessly fascinating.

I love the wooden deck..so many boats now have horrid metal. I agree with Tara about that effect, that happens to me on the beach.

The hypnotic with it is the repetiousness of patterns and sounds, be it from the ships propulsion, as here, or the waves against the shore. These have a very hypnotic effect. Nice photo (as long as she isn't thinking "To be, or not to be, that is the question.") Keep up the good work! :-)

Great pic I would love to be there watching the waves Hugs Susan~

Another wonderful shot! I love the feeling of floating on the water. It does really seem to sap the will to do anything else!

I'm loving this picture Clive...but it is sapping the energy right out of me now. I am going to lay down and take a nap:) No joke.

A grand shot with those twin screws thrusting huge amounts of water so powerfully back into the distance with the rudder perfectly amidships. You're clipping right along too. Just put me there, alongside that woman (just to keep me warm) and bring me more coffee!

Hypnotic.. That describes it about right! Been there, done it! AND it does.. AND then you go back for more the next day ...or night or... Stop posting these, I want a Cruise now.. LOL Rob
