Description

No. 1079 was built by Walkers Limited in Maryborough in 1956 and was assigned the No. 547. It was designated BB18 1/4 and the 4-6-2 was known as a 'Pacific'. It entered service in November 1956. Queensland Railway retained No. 1079 for special excursions traffic following the end of regular steam locomotive operations in 1969. It is used to haul the Q150 steam train when not operating on the mainline. When not in operation it can be seen in the North Ipswich railway workshop. Nothing like live steam. I'd have guessed much older than 1956...almost all steam was phased out in the USA by 1955. Really looks good at the zoom.
