My name is Clive, resident in Cape Town, South Africa. I am an amateur photographer who has been enjoying the medium in a more serious manner since 2003.
I took a trip to the UK armed with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I had inherited from my Dad.
Out of the holiday snaps, I managed to get a few that I felt were quite good, but had no idea of how I managed to get them 'right'.
Since then I have done a couple of courses in the darkroom and joined a local photographic society where I was on the committee for a while.
Hopefully I am getting it 'right' more often these days.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7 and being tied into the lens system, the Sony A100 DSLR was my introduction to the digital world. This has recently been upgraded to the Alpha SLT-A55 and I have to admit that I have shot more digital in the last five years than film!
My daughter Kristen (Kris10) and son Sean (fotoSean) have accounts here too, in the hope that they will learn too and share my passion! Sadly they have been rather quiet of late, much like their dad...
August 2015 marks the end of my 3 years as coordinator for the Photographic section of Renderosity. What a wonderful time of my life that I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you all for the opportunity!
Keep the smile alive,
Clive

Oh, oh... and I thought someone (not you) had gone "sploosh" and they were out to pick that someone up. Interesting to see them do a live life boat drill FOR THE CREW with passengers on board. I've never seen, nor heard of such before. So, you were leaning over board to get these fantastic "over board" photos. My, I was a bit worried about your safety there for a while. Nice action photo. Keep up the good work! :-) No comments yet? What's the matter with them? :)

Jip ... strap around wrist, flip-out screen, and you can get all sorts of fantastic angles on things! I'm intimately familiar with the technique. This is a terrific pov ... really fine work!

Unusual perspective - nice shot. Timely too - with that tragic cruise ship accident that happened so recently, I'm sure anyone sailing on a large ship can't help but be thinking about lifeboats...

A rare and pleasing sight.

Another interesting shot! Those props on the lifeboats are so tiny compared to the size of the boat, but typically they get tied together with the lead lifeboat (with the top) doing most of the towing work, and it may have a larger prop.

Fantastic view point.

Look... Crew, training! Costa, take note!!!!!!! Some of the boats are covered ahnd larger, they tow the smaller ones but all have motors.. There is no rowing now.. The idea being the motor will have enough to get you safty (a ship or land).. You would only row, if totally nessicary, you can see oars on the nearest boat, on the left laying down..lol By the way I was told by the captain of the cruise I travalling on, when I asked a question about his 'boat'.. "It is a SHIP!! The lifeboats are boats I sail a SHIP", and he smiled and walked off.. I never forgot that... Rob
