Description

It's really an over-stated cliché how curiosity so often gets us into trouble, yet it also makes so much happen it is impossible to imagine what we'd be like without it. In this case, a crew has followed their curiosity perhaps just a little too close to a vigorously out-gassing icy body. Let's hope they don't meet something a little more substantial than just rarified gases... ----- I wanted to see what I'd do if I restricted myself to just the preset textures in Bryce for a change. Ultimately, I wasn't able to stay true to that, alas. The bulk of this ship relies on presets, but the radiator panels used a texture of my own creation because I just couldn't find a preset that had a look I was satisfied with. The ship was modeled and rendered in Bryce 6.5, and the engine exhausts were also rendered in Bryce, in a separate pass then composited with the ship in Photoshop. The background was made in Photoshop, and other post-working effects as well. Thanks for taking a look. I'm not finished with this model, it needs radio antennas and the like, but I got tired of playing with it and wanted to at least post something.

A Nemaean once told me: Любопытство убил кота, который означает, что лучше умереть умный, а не жить глупо. He assures me that he meant to say: "Curiosity killed the cat, which means that it is best to die smart rather than live stupid." Nemaeans...leave it to them conveniently forget English, when telling you something! Anyway, enough of that: This is a great image and it's full of curiosity-inducing wonder! I love that ship and I'd love to know more of her stories!

Ah - so good to see your breathtaking spaceships again, Mike! This is spectacular! You should start a class in constructing spaceships in Bryce.... :-D Every time I try it I get something resembling the aftermath of a tornado hitting a can factory...LOL!

Nice looking model! maybe a little too bumpy on the engines, but then again, you're using presets.

Excellent work and the combination of your ship with your background is a double plus for me.

Nice work, using nearly only presets is pretty restrictive.

A great result with the limits you set...another excellent ship creation(you really add a lot of details in your modelling)...agree with geirla on the bump texture of the engines, adjusting the bump depth is still a preset texture in my book!Nicely done as usual!
