Bill (bmac62) was asking about the Flinders Street Railway Station. So here was how it looked last Tuesday, and an old photo from 1927! Melbourne Australia. image host

Wow! What a stunning building! Great photo! So many people are waiting too, actually in both pictures...I hope they aren't the same people, LOL!

Thanks Andrew. I am always fascinated by old railroads and everything that goes with them. This is such a neat comparison...let's see 1927-2012...85 years! It appears the overhead wires are still in place for trollies in 1927 and for what today...electric buses? Ah ha, a zoom appears to reveal one of those buses. Your photo of the station is sharp, bright and highly detailed. Great presentation.

Lost none of its beauty Andrew, not sure that the high rise enhances it though but good for comparison.

WOW .... what a magnificent architecture. I am glad that the city planners have the building so well integrated into the new Melbourne. I look at often old postcards from Berlin to compare - old and new city. Class recording and accurately the angles / location of the past.

I agree that the building is superb looking and that the lump of concrete at the back spoils it...

I agree with those who said the building behind ruins the look of the beautiful station. Excellent photo!

Wow - I see the tram system is still in place. The building has survived well! I like the clocks above the entrance - very clever. Clive

I think that I saw the back clock in yesterday's post. An amazing piece of architecture and nicely maintained. Love the details in zoom.
