Description

Knowing the sand was too soft for a "wheels down" landing, Smirnov skipped the damaged "Diamond Dakota" on her belly into the surf. The burning motor was immediately quenched and somehow, making this all look far too easy, Smirnoff even "parked" the wave-ploughing "Pelikaan" face to the sea. After all, ... they would be exiting via the rear door... Extreme Waveboarding, ala 1942. However for this event three "judges" were battle-hardened Zeke pilots, hot on their tail, and ready to "disqualify" them. The fourth judge, a local Aboriginal, decided to have nothing to do with the whole lot of them... He set off for the Mission... thirty odd kilometers away, to the north... knowing they'd sort it all out. It was a good call. The Mission was actually the closest thing nearby resembling civilisation on that spring morning- because there was nothing at all "civilised" about what those three Zeke pilots proceeded to do next as the helpless occupants tried to exit the swamped DC3... [Now, this happened a long time ago... Those pilots chose their role in the Carnot Bay story, not me... I don't have any agenda in bringing this up other than to breathe life into a little known story of heroism-under-fire... That requires that someone must be firing... ] Thanks for viewing and comments. Rendered in Vue 8 Esprit. Neiwil's DC3 again... This time, the Zeke's way in the background are Motokamishii's Reisen21

As they say "Don't shoot the messenger"...loving this completely, you couldn't invent it, it HAD to happen.Unfortunate as the Japanese actions were, as I've said so often in my own posts 'every side did it, to some degree'...war is never pretty and the unarmed are a quick 'score'.We need to tell it/hear it as it was, warts and all, otherwise what's the point? Another brilliant image to accompany this thrilling story....10/10

I'm with Neil 100%.. Needs to be told, all sides did it, though if truth be told 'others nations' more than others.. And, not who you'd think either.. But still, this is a fine work.. Well done.. Thanks for telling and showing.. Rob

Agree with the above. You have to tell it like it was even if it makes disturbing reading. All sides did do it and there is too much gloss in films these days, good guys and bad guys - it's never that simple. Great series so far.
