My name is Clive, resident in Cape Town, South Africa. I am an amateur photographer who has been enjoying the medium in a more serious manner since 2003.
I took a trip to the UK armed with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I had inherited from my Dad.
Out of the holiday snaps, I managed to get a few that I felt were quite good, but had no idea of how I managed to get them 'right'.
Since then I have done a couple of courses in the darkroom and joined a local photographic society where I was on the committee for a while.
Hopefully I am getting it 'right' more often these days.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7 and being tied into the lens system, the Sony A100 DSLR was my introduction to the digital world. This has recently been upgraded to the Alpha SLT-A55 and I have to admit that I have shot more digital in the last five years than film!
My daughter Kristen (Kris10) and son Sean (fotoSean) have accounts here too, in the hope that they will learn too and share my passion! Sadly they have been rather quiet of late, much like their dad...
August 2015 marks the end of my 3 years as coordinator for the Photographic section of Renderosity. What a wonderful time of my life that I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you all for the opportunity!
Keep the smile alive,
Clive

Hmmm.... rats leaving the ship? What do they know that YOU don't know? Or, is this all that's left of your cruise ship? The sides of this life boat look dreadfully high. Unless filled to capacity with passengers, a person in the water has NO way of reaching those ropes on the outside. Also, hopefully the boat is made of unsinkable materials in the case of swamping in rough seas. As for the quality of the photo, good work. I can see all the details nicely. As for a dip, I'd prefer a nice beach instead of a harbour! I can't compete with all the boats. Keep up the good work! :-)

Good time for a drill. If I am reading right, that boat holds 50.

50 seems like it would be an awful full load...great shot, who was left running the ship?

Nice shot! She's hardly in the water. Fifty would just give her good trim, I would bet in a pinch you could safely get 100 into her in avarage seas. She moves along rather smartly too!
