Description

I'm hoping someone can ID this beautiful little bird for me. While at the zoo getting the gorilla I came across an area with some birds in it. Normally all my animal captures are shot in the wild, but this little guy was too beautifuul to pass on. I have no idea what part of the world it's from.... can some one tell me what it is? This is one of those MUST VIEW LARGE images.

It is a starling my friend. Have a look at the link. There is a picture of the same bird as you have captured and uploaded. God Bless. Found it on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starling Starlings are small to medium-sized passerine birds in the family Sturnidae. The name "Sturnidae" comes from the Latin word for starling, sturnus. Many Asian species, particularly the larger ones, are called mynas, and many African species are known as glossy starlings because of their iridescent plumage. Starlings occur naturally in the Old World, from Europe, Asia and Africa, to northern Australia and the islands of the tropical Pacific. Several European and Asian species have been introduced to these areas as well as North America, Hawaii and New Zealand, where they generally compete for habitat with native birds and are considered to be invasive species. The starling species familiar to most people in Europe and North America is the European Starling, and throughout much of Asia and the Pacific the Common Myna is indeed common.

Our starlings are completely different here, they have beautiful iridescent spots but no colours like this. Fantastic captures!
