I've always been fascinated by this type of erosion pattern in rocks. I spotted this particular one on a beach near the town of Bandon along the Oregon Coast...

My non-expert understanding of the holes is that these were air pockets trapped within flowing volcanic lava. Plenty of volcanic rock all up and down Oregon's beautiful coast... Fascinating textures.
