Description

The Boeing P-26 was the Army Air Corps first monoplane pursuit plane and, interestingly, flew with various air forces in action as late as 1954! It also had the distinction with the IJN A5M "Claude" of being the first monoplanes to engage in aerial dogfights and kills in Asia. All that being said, it's a sweet looking plane, the pilots loved to fly it (despite being difficult to land on "all threes" right side up), and most important it captured my imagination when I was young. I love these classic looking planes. "Peashooter": Beautiful model by BeyondVR, and free on Rendo USN Pilot: free sketchup warehouse USN pilot dude by Max Greuter

'Sweet' indeed, always liked this plane, a bit of the bumblebee aerodynamic in that shape. With all that engine up front the frequent 'ground loops' are no surprise. The brooding sky and snow really 'pop' this off the page, excellent render sir!!! a fave in fact......

It does look a lot like the "Claude" and these pre-war planes are great! A really fine crisp render Bill, off to D/L this one too. Wonderful image!

Your render really brings out the spirit of the "golden wings" era- though I'm trialing some drab Chinese textures already... more practical but much less colourful.

Now this is one fine render. Rob (debbielove) and I both got photos of a P-26 sitting in the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. I am going to fish one up and put it in the Photography Gallery for you.

I came here from Bill's post, and am glad I did! That's a pretty little plane ... reminds me a bit of the little Russian Rata. Nice job!
