I never had Key lime pie before. It was both fun to make and fun to eat. We got some real lame, Key limes so we ended up using the bottled juice stuff. I liked it so much I ordered a bottle from amazon for myself and tossed in a bottle of myers lemon juice as well. The great thing about useing lemon based custards is you really don't need to cook it, the acidity in the fruits cooks the custard for you and as long as you use pasteurized eggs your good from salmonella.
