Description

I in baton Rouge, Louisiana for a few days at my son's house so that why I did not post much and will not post intill next week. I went to the Louisiana State museum and it is free so go there and it be good. i went thought it in 2 hours as it is not that big. They had this real civil war submarine there they find in Lake Pontchartrain near the mouth of bayou St. John in New Orleans in 1878. No one knows how it got there or the name of the sub. May people thought it was the CSS Pioneer intill in 1998 the sketches of the CSS pioneer was discovered sand the people saw it was not even closet to this submarine at all. So the mystery remains. As you see my son closet to the sub in the photo it is not big at all.

This is one of the coolest pics ever Jock, and something I'd love to see in person. Someone was really ahead of their time back then. Have a great time on your trip.

it really is amazing the world we live in today... we think of subs being in the ocean with CREWS on them - lol... a place to work, eat, sleep, crap - lol... This looks like a coffin for high seas - lol... I read last year they found a civil war sub that could hold 6 people and it was powered by them peddling - we sure have come along ways since then - I really am surprised that the US didn't make a space station on the moon - I'd like to see that in my lifetime... I think once they get up there and start drilling for water, they'll find it and then will start finding bones.... I think way further back than man knows the moon had life and both the world and earth fought - the moon was destroyed... so, when they find them bones, they may unmoon (unearth) something way worse than agent orange - something still radiant that could wipe out this planet if it is brought back..... I know, I gotta crazy imagination.... but I believe if you can think it, it can or could of happened.

Interesting! It has a rudder at either end but no visible means of propulsion. The steel looks to be in good condition still!

Wow! I had read about that ship in an old Civil War book when I was a kid, but the book had identified it as a low-profile ironclad torpedo ram. Looking at your pictures, however, clearly there is the diving plane arrangement near the stern that makes it a submarine. A lot of what is "known" about the Civil War isn't, really. The accepted estimates of 600K dead are now thought by many historians to be as much as 50% low. "Steampunk" was real and more interesting than the fantasy versions.
