Description
A paved path winds it way through the Lava Cast Forest, whose rough, uneven surface otherwise would be quite hard on your feet. As you can see from this picture, there is quite a bit of plant life poking it's way stubbornly through the volcanic rubble. I find the stubbornness & tenacity of life in the most difficult of circumstances impressive & inspiring.
This is the only other photo I will post of this area. Though it was an interesting place to visit, I found the opportunities for photos pretty limited...

breathtaking! This alone with no other, is worth the tip I think. I have such a peaceful feeling - almost one of "white noise" - when I look at this. Super composition!

We came west on 26 and cut over to Redmond when we were in that area in October, and didn't get to see this. Thanks for the scenery! It's fascinating to think about.

From what I've read, the lava has been sitting there patiently waiting for you for 6,000 years:) Your photo gives me a good feeling for the place. We'll not miss it the next time we are nearby.

A very beautiful capture, and interesting narrative. I quite agree with you on the tenacity of life in the most unexpected and harshest conditions ever...A spot-on postwork on this photo as well ! Way to go !
