last night I decided to allow my dogs to sleep in the garage and good I did.I saw this and I do not recall seeing before in my whole life except for pictures
A moon ring, also known as a winter halo, is a phenomenon that usually appears in conjunction with a full moon. There appears to be a whitish ring, approximately 10 to 20 times the size of the moon, surrounding the moon and centered on it. It is caused by refraction of the light from the full moon in the ice particles floating in the upper atmosphere, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_ring

We see it lots here in TN. It is said to foretell rain in folklore...not sure where I picked that up but have known it since forever. It would make sense that you rarely have it in a far drier state. Great image! =)
