Description

This is one of the walls of our barn. It was used by previous owners to house animals, but we don't really have any use for it except to store some things we've found on the property that we don't need or want, but are too much trouble to haul out to the dump. The barn isn't old enough to have any historical significance, but I just liked the textures on this wall (worth a zoom, I think). And, I was hoping someone might be able to identify what that metal object is. My best guess is some kind of saw missing it's blade, but I don't have much confidence in that guess. Will be watching the Super Bowl today like most of the country, though I'm not much of a football fan & don't really care which team wins. It's probably the only commercial TV I watch live, since I don't want to skip over the ads, which can be as entertaining as the game...

I can see why you like the textures here, there's a great combination with the tree-poles, the rusting iron and the siding. Lovely shot and definitely worth looking at full-size!

Wonderful textures and capture! :) I think that this is used for grabbing bales of hay. Not sure what it's called.

Fantastic image! I love the composition and textures, and the light is just right. I'm thinking the same as Kim, that it's some kind of hay hook. It looks like there's a part missing on the right-hand side. Maybe a lever to force a prong into the hay bale? Just a guess. Thanks for the exercise! :)

I'm with Tara...25 googles later:) Interested in seeing the outside of the barn at some time too.

Bill - The outside of the barn isn't nearly as interesting, as the previous owners decided to paint it the color of orange sherbet (they painted our house the same color, but we repainted over that - just didn't bother with the barn). The surrounding landscape is beautiful, though, & as luck would have it, I was just down there a little while ago this morning taking some photos by the barn. Haven't checked them yet, but if any of them turn out to be worthwhile, I'll post them...
